Trial Policy

     For the benefit of you and horse your horse we allow our customers to have our saddle on trial.  We realized it is not possible to completely decide on the fit and comfort of a saddle by size information alone.  We request that you call us when you receive your saddle to confirm that it has arrived in good condition.  At this time the trial period begins.  If you do not call, we will assume it has arrived according to the UPS or USPS delivery status listed on their respective websites.

Our requirements for a trial are:

  • Payment: The customer must cover the cost of the saddle, tax, and shipping with either cash, Money Order, credit card authorization, paypal.com, or an online escrow service.  In the case of the credit card: this "authorization" will secure the funds on your card and affect your available credit limit. This amount however will not show up on your monthly statement unless you do not return the saddles at the end of your trial period. Remeber, You are responsible for return shipping.
  • Shipping Costs: We charge $39.95 for English saddles and $44.95 for Western saddles to send out a saddle.   We can ship any saddles Priority or Rush if you like, but there will be additional freight and you will be charged accordingly.
  • Sales Tax: There is an 7.25% sales tax charge if you live in California on the cost of the saddle.
  • Trial Length: Saddles are "on trial" for a three day period. If you do not contact us at the end of this trial period we will assume the saddle sold, no exceptions.
  • Returning the Saddle: The customer is responsible for insured freight to and from BitsAndBridles.com.  Freight is not refundable. All shipments must be made with United Parcel Service or United States Postal Service.  When you send a saddle back to us, it must be insured for the full value of the saddle.  In the event that goods are lost or damaged, then the customer is responsible for filing insurance claims. 
  • One Saddle At A Time: We only like for send out one saddle per customer at a time.
  • Refunds: The purchase price is refundable within the allotted trial period, provided the conditions below are met. Saddles are not returnable after the trial period has expired.  Refunds also assume saddles are sent in the same condition they are received.

While you have the saddle:

To ensure that our saddles remain looking as new as possible, we ask that you adhere to a few simple requests.

  • Please do not clean or oil the saddle.
  • Please use clean saddle pad when trying the saddle.
  • Protect the saddle from stirrup leather marks by wrapping the leathers in a sock with the feet cut out, or wrap well with plastic wrap.
  • A brief ride is allowed (10 minutes maximum) to obtain an idea of how the saddle fits you and your horse.
  • Keep the saddle covered and protected at all times, except when test riding.
  • Avoid storing it in your car or large boarding facilities.
  • Do not keep anywhere the saddle with get damp, overly hot, and/or exposed to weather.  This means do not store the saddle in your car during hot times of year.
  • Take care of it as you would if it was your own.

Usage Surcharges

  • Saddles may be girthed up and ridden in with stirrup leathers. Saddles are to be returned in the same condition in which they were received.
  • Any saddle returned with excessive wear on the flaps, scratches in the leather or dings in the pommel, cantle or elsewhere will automatically be assessed a minimum 10% surcharge of the saddle value.

Disclaimer

  • Please feel free to have the saddle checked by your local saddle experts. We do a flex test on the saddles when they come in for consignment, and will not accept any saddle with questionable soundness. However, we cannot warranty any used saddle or other used equipment.
  • The Seller of all goods, equipment and supplies hereunder makes no representations and/or warranties of any kind or nature whatsoever regarding the goods sold.
  • Buyers are purchasing the materials in as-is condition, and Buyers warrant and affirm that they are not buying any of the materials based upon representations of Seller or Seller's agents.
  • Seller specifically disclaims any applicability of the warranties relating to fitness for particular purpose.
  • Buyers agree to indemnify, defend and hold Seller harmless from and against any claims for breach of warranty of any kind or nature whatsoever.
  • In the event that it becomes necessary for Seller to institute legal proceedings in order to enforce the terms of this disclaimer, Seller shall be entitled to obtain all costs associated with such enforcement, including attorneys fees from any Buyer hereunder.

     Because we are a consignment store, we cannot take items back late because the owner will have been paid. For that reason, it is very important for you to keep in touch with us.  Please understand that these are not our saddles. They are owned by other people and we have to protect their investments. If you do not contact us after the three day period we will assume the saddle is sold.
